Description

Christmas Maraschino Cherry Shortbread Cookies are delightful, buttery treats enhanced with chopped maraschino cherries and optional mini chocolate chips.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • Extra powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. Cream together softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Mix in vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until combined.
  4. Fold in chopped maraschino cherries and mini chocolate chips.
  5. Wrap dough in plastic and chill for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on parchment-lined sheets.
  7. Slightly flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass.
  8. Bake 14-16 minutes until edges turn golden.
  9. Cool slightly and dust tops with powdered sugar.
