Description

Golden, crispy beef taquitos filled with seasoned ground beef and melted cheese. Baked until crunchy and perfect for dipping in salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce (or salsa)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Mexican blend)
  • 1012 small flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (extra for topping)
  • Cooking spray or oil (for brushing)
  • Sour cream, guacamole, or salsa for dipping
  • Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
  2. Add garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce and cook for another 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup shredded cheese while the mixture is warm.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Warm tortillas briefly to make them pliable.
  7. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto each tortilla and roll tightly.
  8. Place seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Lightly brush or spray each taquito with oil and sprinkle extra cheese on top.
  10. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Optional: broil for 1–2 minutes at the end for extra crispiness.
  12. Serve hot with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole and garnish with cilantro or green onions.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, use corn tortillas instead of flour.
  • You can air fry the taquitos at 400°F for about 8–10 minutes.
  • Add diced jalapeños or green chiles to the filling for a spicy kick.
