Description

These Deviled Egg Christmas Trees are a festive twist on the classic deviled egg — creamy, colorful, and decorated to look like tiny Christmas trees! Made with avocado for a natural green hue, they’re delicious, healthy, and perfect for any holiday gathering.

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 ripe avocado (or 2 tablespoons mayonnaise if preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt or sour cream (optional, for creaminess)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped chives or parsley
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • For Decoration:
  • Paprika or chili flakes
  • Chopped red bell pepper or pimentos
  • Yellow bell pepper or cheese (for “tree toppers”)
  • Fresh dill or parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: Place eggs in a pot of cold water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cover, remove from heat, and let sit for 10–12 minutes. Drain, cool in ice water, and peel.
  2. Halve and scoop: Slice eggs in half lengthwise and remove yolks to a bowl. Set egg whites aside.
  3. Make the filling: Mash yolks with avocado (or mayonnaise) until smooth. Add Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and Greek yogurt (if using). Stir until creamy, then fold in chopped herbs.
  4. Pipe the “trees”: Spoon filling into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe into egg whites, swirling upward to form Christmas tree shapes.
  5. Decorate: Sprinkle paprika or chili flakes for “garlands,” add red pepper “ornaments,” and top each tree with a yellow bell pepper or cheese star.
  6. Garnish and serve: Arrange on a platter with dill or parsley sprigs to resemble a festive forest. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Mix lemon or lime juice into the avocado filling to prevent browning.
  • Make the filling ahead and assemble just before serving.
  • For a spicy twist, add hot sauce or minced jalapeño.
  • For a dairy-free version, skip the yogurt or sour cream.
  • Cut star toppers from yellow bell pepper, carrot, or cheese for festive detail.
