Description

A creamy, cheesy French Onion Chicken Rice Bake with tender chicken, flavorful French onion soup, and a crunchy fried onion topping.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked white rice (or brown rice)
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup French onion soup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
  • 1.5 cups French fried onions (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked rice, shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, French onion soup, sour cream, shredded cheese, 1 cup French fried onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread mixture evenly into the dish.
  4. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes until edges bubble and top begins to set.
  5. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup French fried onions over the top and bake an additional 5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly, then garnish with chopped parsley. Serve warm.

  • Use leftover rotisserie chicken to save time and add flavor.
