Green Bean Casserole with mushrooms and french fried onions is a staple for any holidays, and a must-have for your Thanksgiving dinner!


Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 4 cans (14.5 oz each) french style green beans, drained
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup fresh grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 oz french fried onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Add butter, mushrooms, garlic, onion, salt, and pepper to a skillet.
  3. Cook over medium heat for 10–15 minutes until mushrooms soften and liquid evaporates.
  4. Drain the french style green beans.
  5. In a bowl, stir together the drained beans, cooked mushrooms/onions, and cream of mushroom soup.
  6. Grease a 9×13 baking dish and transfer the mixture into it.
  7. Top with 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven, top with french fried onions, and bake an additional 5 minutes until golden and crispy.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce to the mixture.
