Description
Tender chicken pieces coated in a glossy honey garlic sauce that’s sweet, savory, and better than takeout. A quick and flavorful weeknight dinner served perfectly over steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
- Steamed rice, for serving
Instructions
- Season chicken pieces lightly with salt and black pepper, then toss with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour the sauce into the skillet with the chicken and stir to coat evenly.
- Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
- Serve over steamed rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
- Chicken thighs stay juicier, but chicken breasts work well too.
- Add broccoli or snap peas for a quick one-pan meal.
- Adjust red pepper flakes for your preferred spice level.
