Description

Tender chicken pieces coated in a glossy honey garlic sauce that’s sweet, savory, and better than takeout. A quick and flavorful weeknight dinner served perfectly over steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • Steamed rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Season chicken pieces lightly with salt and black pepper, then toss with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Pour the sauce into the skillet with the chicken and stir to coat evenly.
  5. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  6. Serve over steamed rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Chicken thighs stay juicier, but chicken breasts work well too.
  • Add broccoli or snap peas for a quick one-pan meal.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes for your preferred spice level.
