Description
This Easy Gnocchi and Tomato Bake combines soft gnocchi with tangy sauce and cheese, perfect for cozy dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups marinara or crushed tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Optional add-ins:
- 1 cup cooked ground sausage or shredded chicken
- 1 cup chopped spinach or zucchini
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.
- Boil gnocchi in salted water for 2–3 minutes until they float. Drain well.
- Sauté olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, cooking until fragrant.
- Combine marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes in the skillet. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Spread a thin layer of sauce in the baking dish. Toss cooked gnocchi in remaining sauce and place in dish.
- Pour leftover sauce on top and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
- Cool for 5 minutes and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
