Description

This Easy Gnocchi and Tomato Bake combines soft gnocchi with tangy sauce and cheese, perfect for cozy dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups marinara or crushed tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Optional add-ins:
    • 1 cup cooked ground sausage or shredded chicken
    • 1 cup chopped spinach or zucchini


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Boil gnocchi in salted water for 2–3 minutes until they float. Drain well.
  3. Sauté olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and onion, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Combine marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes in the skillet. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  5. Spread a thin layer of sauce in the baking dish. Toss cooked gnocchi in remaining sauce and place in dish.
  6. Pour leftover sauce on top and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly.
  7. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
  8. Cool for 5 minutes and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
