Description
Irresistibly Spicy Dragon Chicken is a quick Indo-Chinese delight featuring crispy chicken coated in a fiery, sweet-savory sauce. Perfect for a bold weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, sliced
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 egg white
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 2–3 dried red chilies or crushed red pepper flakes
- ½ cup tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar or honey
- ¼ cup water, as needed
- Optional garnish: sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, thin strips of fried onion or bell pepper
Instructions
- Marinate chicken with egg white, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper for 10–15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken until golden and crispy, about 4–6 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
- In the same skillet, add sesame oil. Sauté garlic, ginger, and chilies 1–2 minutes.
- Add ketchup, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, vinegar, sugar; simmer 2–3 minutes, adding water if needed.
- Toss fried chicken into sauce, coating each piece. Simmer 1 more minute.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

- Adjust dried chilies for preferred spiciness.
- Use chicken thighs for juicier results.
