Description
A festive New Year’s Eve cupcake clock made with cupcakes, chocolate frosting, silver sprinkles, fondant numbers, and pretzel rod clock hands for a fun holiday dessert display.
Ingredients
- 12 cupcakes with black cupcake liners
- Chocolate frosting
- 2 large pretzel rods
- Silver sugar crystals
- White fondant
- Black fondant
- Black melting candy
Instructions
- Roll out white fondant to 1/4″ thick and cut 12 circles, 2 ½ inch each.
- Roll black fondant to 1/4″ thick and cut numbers using cookie cutters: 5 ones, 2 twos, 2 sixes, and 1 each of 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 0.
- Place black numbers on white fondant circles gently.
- Pour silver sugar crystals into a shallow dish.
- Coat cupcakes lightly with chocolate frosting. Roll edges in silver crystals, leaving the middle blank.
- Press a white fondant circle onto each cupcake, around edges to meet sprinkles.
- Arrange cupcakes in numeric order around a serving platter to form a clock.
- Heat black melting chocolate in microwave, stirring every 15–20 seconds.
- Trim one pretzel rod for the shorter hour hand. Dip ends into melted candy and let dry.
- Position pretzel rods as clock hands on platter. Add melted candy at joint, sprinkle silver crystals, and let set.
- Create a spiral in remaining sprinkles in the middle of platter.
- Place clock hands on platter when ready. Serve.
