Description

Crispy and delicious onion ring chips coated in a flavorful batter and fried to perfection. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, sliced into 1/4-inch rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Pour buttermilk into another bowl.
  4. Dip each onion ring in buttermilk, then coat in flour mixture. Return to buttermilk and dredge in panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Fry onion rings in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture for extra spice.
  • For a healthier version, bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
