Description
Crispy and delicious onion ring chips coated in a flavorful batter and fried to perfection. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 large onions, sliced into 1/4-inch rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour buttermilk into another bowl.
- Dip each onion ring in buttermilk, then coat in flour mixture. Return to buttermilk and dredge in panko breadcrumbs.
- Fry onion rings in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and serve warm.
Notes
- Add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture for extra spice.
- For a healthier version, bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
