Description

Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are a healthy twist on classic comfort food. Juicy seasoned patties bake directly on thick cabbage slices for a low-carb, nutrient-packed meal that’s flavorful, satisfying, and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Cabbage Base

  • 1 small head cabbage, cut into thick slices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef, turkey, chicken, or plant-based alternative
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg (optional, for binding)

Optional Topping

  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice cabbage into ½-inch thick slices and brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and add egg if using.
  4. Form mixture into patties and place each on a cabbage slice.
  5. Bake for about 25 minutes or until fully cooked.
  6. If desired, sprinkle cheese on top and broil 3–5 minutes until melted.
  7. Serve garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Works with beef, poultry, or plant-based meat substitutes.
  • For crispier cabbage, roast slices alone for 5 minutes before adding patties.
  • Great low-carb burger alternative without buns.
