Description
Pizza Grilled Cheese is a quick and cheesy mashup of classic grilled cheese and your favorite pizza flavors, made with melty mozzarella, savory marinara, and crispy golden bread.
Ingredients
- 4 slices bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 12 slices turkey pepperoni (or preferred topping)
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil (optional)
Instructions
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle buttered sides with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Place two slices buttered-side down. Spread marinara on the inside, then layer mozzarella, Parmesan, turkey pepperoni, and desired toppings. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered-side up.
- Heat skillet over medium-low heat. Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until golden brown and cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from skillet, cool slightly, slice in half, garnish with basil if desired, and serve with extra marinara for dipping.
Notes
- Cook on medium-low to avoid burning before cheese melts.
- Press gently with a spatula for even browning.
- Customize with mushrooms, olives, or cooked sausage.
