Description

Pizza Grilled Cheese is a quick and cheesy mashup of classic grilled cheese and your favorite pizza flavors, made with melty mozzarella, savory marinara, and crispy golden bread.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 slices turkey pepperoni (or preferred topping)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle buttered sides with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  2. Place two slices buttered-side down. Spread marinara on the inside, then layer mozzarella, Parmesan, turkey pepperoni, and desired toppings. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered-side up.
  3. Heat skillet over medium-low heat. Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until golden brown and cheese is fully melted.
  4. Remove from skillet, cool slightly, slice in half, garnish with basil if desired, and serve with extra marinara for dipping.

Notes

  • Cook on medium-low to avoid burning before cheese melts.
  • Press gently with a spatula for even browning.
  • Customize with mushrooms, olives, or cooked sausage.
