Description
Fluffy Hawaiian sweet rolls soaked in rich custard and pan-fried to golden perfection. This Roll French Toast is an indulgent breakfast or brunch favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- 4 tbsp butter, divided
- Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream, chopped nuts, coconut flakes
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
- Gently separate the Hawaiian rolls and dip each roll into the custard, coating all sides. Soak 15–20 seconds per side.
- Heat 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Place soaked rolls in skillet and cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Repeat with remaining rolls using remaining butter.
- Serve immediately with desired toppings.
Notes
- Use slightly stale rolls for best results.
- Do not oversoak to avoid sogginess.
- Adjust sugar and spices to taste.
- Try stuffing rolls with cream cheese or Nutella before soaking.
