Fluffy Hawaiian sweet rolls soaked in rich custard and pan-fried to golden perfection. This Roll French Toast is an indulgent breakfast or brunch favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 tbsp butter, divided
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream, chopped nuts, coconut flakes

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  2. Gently separate the Hawaiian rolls and dip each roll into the custard, coating all sides. Soak 15–20 seconds per side.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place soaked rolls in skillet and cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Repeat with remaining rolls using remaining butter.
  6. Serve immediately with desired toppings.

Notes

  • Use slightly stale rolls for best results.
  • Do not oversoak to avoid sogginess.
  • Adjust sugar and spices to taste.
