Description
No-fuss buttermilk biscuits loaded with breakfast sausage and cheddar cheese, baked in a pool of melted butter for golden, flaky perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 ¾–2 cups buttermilk
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup salted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Spray a 9×9-inch glass or ceramic baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no pink remains, 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- Mix flour, sugar, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add buttermilk and stir until sticky batter forms. Gently stir in cheese and cooked sausage.
- Pour melted butter into prepared dish. Add biscuit dough on top and spread evenly. Cut dough into 9 squares.
- Bake 25-30 minutes on middle rack, rotating once, until golden and toothpick comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
