Description

No-fuss buttermilk biscuits loaded with breakfast sausage and cheddar cheese, baked in a pool of melted butter for golden, flaky perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 ¾2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup salted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Spray a 9×9-inch glass or ceramic baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no pink remains, 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Mix flour, sugar, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add buttermilk and stir until sticky batter forms. Gently stir in cheese and cooked sausage.
  4. Pour melted butter into prepared dish. Add biscuit dough on top and spread evenly. Cut dough into 9 squares.
  5. Bake 25-30 minutes on middle rack, rotating once, until golden and toothpick comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
