Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Onions:
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Prepare the steak: In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. Toss beef in marinade and let sit 10–15 minutes.
  2. Cook onions: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions until soft and slightly caramelized. Season and set aside.
  3. Sear beef: In the same pan, heat 2 tbsp oil over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry 2–3 minutes until browned.
  4. Make sauce: Whisk soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  5. Pour sauce over beef and simmer until thickened.
  6. Return onions to the pan, toss everything together, and serve hot.
