Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Lightly coat each piece with flour.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sear chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add sliced onions and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Sprinkle in flour and stir for 1 minute to form a roux. Slowly whisk in chicken broth, then add heavy cream and thyme. Simmer until thickened.
- Combine & Simmer: Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon gravy over the top. Simmer on low for 10–15 minutes until chicken is tender and fully coated.
- Serve & Enjoy: Garnish with parsley and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits for the ultimate comfort meal.
Notes
- For extra richness, use chicken thighs instead of breasts.
- Add mushrooms or bell peppers to the gravy for more flavor.
- Pairs beautifully with garlic mashed potatoes or buttered rice.
