Description
A creamy and savory chicken dish featuring tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich sour cream and onion sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 120 milliliters chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 240 milliliters full-fat sour cream
- Fresh chopped parsley, optional
Instructions
- Halve the chicken breasts lengthwise to create four thinner pieces. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Place olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Add chicken and sear 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (internal temp 74°C). Transfer to plate.
- Reduce heat to medium, add remaining butter and sliced onion. Cook 10–15 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
- Add minced garlic and sauté 30 seconds.
- Pour in chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Scrape skillet bottom to lift browned bits.
- Whisk in sour cream, warming gently 2 minutes without boiling.
- Return chicken to skillet, coat with sauce, adjust seasoning. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Best served hot with rice or mashed potatoes.
- For extra spice, add cayenne or red pepper flakes.
