Delicious and visually appealing spinach-filled snacks shaped like trees, perfect for parties.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed and thoroughly squeezed dry
- 1/2 cup garlic and herb cream cheese (or plain cream cheese)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Mix spinach, cream cheese, and shredded cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut puff pastry into 1-inch-wide strips.
- Roll strips into tree-shaped spirals, adding spinach filling between layers.
- Place trees on parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
- Cool slightly and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Squeeze spinach very dry to avoid soggy pastry.
- Try different cheeses for flavor variations.
