Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet is a rich, creamy, and flavorful skillet dish featuring tender seared chicken simmered in a buttery garlic-Parmesan cream sauce with bold seasoning.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Season chicken: Pat chicken dry and season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Sear chicken: Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet. Cook chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp butter and onion. Cook 3–4 minutes, then add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Make sauce: Pour in chicken broth, scraping browned bits. Add heavy cream and Parmesan, stirring until smooth and slightly thickened. Add remaining butter if desired.
- Simmer chicken: Return chicken to skillet, spoon sauce over it, and simmer on low for 8–10 minutes until fully cooked.
- Finish: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
