- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped pickles or relish
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon pickle juice or white vinegar
- 4 small flour tortillas
- 4 slices American cheese or cheddar-style burger cheese
- 1 1/2 cups iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil (for toasting)
- Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickles, garlic powder, paprika, and pickle juice to make the burger sauce.
- Chill sauce in the fridge while preparing other ingredients.
- Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled.
- Drain excess grease, then season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cook 1–2 more minutes until thick and coated.
- Warm tortillas in a skillet with butter or oil until soft and lightly golden.
- Toast slightly longer for crisp edges.
- Spread beef mixture on each tortilla and top with cheese.
- Add shredded lettuce and drizzle burger sauce over top.
- Serve immediately while warm and crispy.
Notes
- To make these into actual melts, fold tortillas in half like a quesadilla and toast both sides until cheese melts and tortilla is golden.
- For extra crunch, add sliced pickles or crispy fried onions.
- Substitute ground turkey or plant-based crumbles for the beef.
- Use corn tortillas or low-carb tortillas for dietary preferences.
- Add crumbled bacon for a bacon cheeseburger version.
- Serve with additional burger sauce for dipping.
- Leftover seasoned beef can be refrigerated for up to 5 days and reheated.
- Best assembled and served immediately to keep lettuce crisp.
