Ingredients

  • For the Chicken Filling:
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground chicken
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 cup diced water chestnuts (optional for crunch)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • For Serving:
  • 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, separated into cups
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and cook until fragrant. Add ground chicken and cook until no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  2. Add the Sauce: Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and ginger. Mix well and simmer for 2–3 minutes. Add diced water chestnuts for texture, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Assemble the Wraps: Spoon the chicken mixture into lettuce cups. Top with shredded carrots, green onions, and sesame seeds.
  4. Serve & Enjoy: Serve warm and enjoy as a light, healthy meal or appetizer.
