Description

Crispy chicken pieces coated in a buttery honey sauce that’s sweet, savory, and irresistible. Perfect for serving over rice.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp canola oil (or any light oil)
  • 1 tbsp green onions, sliced
  • 5 tbsp butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, garlic powder, cayenne, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Coat chicken pieces thoroughly.
  2. Melt butter with oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken in a single layer and fry 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. Turn heat to low and add remaining butter to the skillet. Once melted, stir in honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stir continuously until sauce reaches smooth caramel-like thickness.
  5. Add chicken back to the skillet and toss until fully coated. Turn off heat and let chicken rest for 5 minutes.
  6. Serve over white rice and garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Use a cast iron skillet for best results.
