Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (oregano or basil, optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Rolls: Without separating, slice the entire pack of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally.
  3. Butter the Rolls: Spread softened butter on cut sides of top and bottom halves.
  4. Add Garlic Powder: Sprinkle over buttered rolls if using.
  5. Layer the Cheese: Evenly distribute cheddar and mozzarella on the bottom half.
  6. Place Top Half: Carefully place top half of rolls back on cheesy bottom half.
  7. Wrap in Foil: Tightly wrap sandwich in aluminum foil to prevent drying.
  8. Bake: Bake for 15–20 minutes until cheese melts.
  9. Unwrap and Toast: For golden crust, unwrap and bake additional 5 minutes.
  10. Slice and Serve: Cool for a minute, then slice and serve.
